Mike Oldfield and I back in 1999

image

Hi there, so sorry I have not been on here for bloody ages but so much has gone on. The good news is I am now working with the maestro that is Mike Oldfield again.  I am helping Mike with all his social media and pr. So excited about his new rock album coming up too. Check out our Facebook page where mike often talks to his fans https://www.facebook.com/groups/Mikeoldfieldpersonal/?fref=ts

Monkey’s Got Talent

My new little business is going well, it’s called Monkey’s Got Talent and I certainly have!  I am managing and promoting a brilliant band Called The Parish Music Box . They are very cool and such nice guys. Can’t wait to see them go from strength to strength because they deserve it.

The Parish music box https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Parish-Music-Box/160062254006658

Talking of music for the last 11 years I have been working at The Mercury Prize Awards. This year it is at The Roundhouse which is great as it’s next to where I live. I look after the snappers and the talent and at this years nominations we were thinking of different ways to present the award…

Had a wonderful day at Silverstone with Variety. The gorgeous Natalie Pinkham gave up her valuable time to host and entertain all the children. I got to go in a Ferrari and managed to not swear all around the track. It felt like we were going 200 miles an hr. Bloody brilliant it was. My hair suffered a little and I looked like the hair bear bunch when I got out but it was so worth it.

Next project I am working on is with Little Mix. Tell you about that next time x

The Queen and I oh and Superman

Brian The Legend May invited me to see Queen play last Saturday with Adam Lambert. I took my best mate Hugo Speer (Full Monty Star) with me and we had a blast! I always have such fun with Hugo, we ended looking after some homeless man buying him fish n chips and trying to put him on the right track. Not sure if we made a difference but we tried and that’s the main thing.

My other lovely friend and Variety Ambassador Aldo Zilli invited myself and my boss to see the screening of his new show which you can see on goodfoodchannel.co.uk, Sky 247 and Virgin 260. We ate amazing Italian food and then Aldo took me to my favourite members bar The Groucho. As I walked in I bumped into this guy and boom I got struck by lightening! I dragged this poor fella to the bar and we chatted for quite some time and I have never laughed so much. It doesn’t happen to me often that I like someone so much but I haven’t thought of anything else since. Don’t think he felt the same but hey ho it’s still a nice feeling.

This Saturday I was at Hickstead Horse Trials with Babs Windsor. She gave up her day to devote her time to Variety. She hosted the day and also presented a Sunshine Coach to some of our children. What a women and another great Ambassador for the charity.

I also met the new Superman! Henry Cavill is his name and he’s gorgeous. Film comes out next year. Sadly I wasn’t to be his Lois Lane as he couldn’t get away fast enough ha.

Egyptian Nightmare

Hello I have just got back from my holiday which I have to say was one of the worst holidays I’ve had. I took my mum with me to Egypt and was really looking forward to a nice rest and to see some beautiful sights. But all we got to see were the floor tiles of the hotel bathroom! We got so sick and it ruined every day of our holiday. The only thing good to come out of it  was we both lost a few pounds. Egypt I won’t be coming back anytime soon. Sort yaself out will ya!

Plump Monk before Gyppy tummy

Last night I was at Sanctum Soho Hotel for a party on the rooftop with Nick Ede. Was so lovely to see all my friends again. Lizzie Cundy, Donal & Ameera MacIntyre, Phil Turner and Jaye Camilleri were on great form. It was for the launch of LoveLiteUK who do Elite Teeth Whitening and Non invasive Lipoglaze. Check it out http://www.loveliteuk.co.uk I’m gonna have some of that as been eating like a big fat piggy since I got back.

It’s parties galore now so may have a night in tonight and catch up on two weeks of Corrie and Eastenders…

Gastronomic Occasion!

Jimmy Carr gave his valuable time for free at Variety’s Gastro evening at the Dorchester last week. He was brilliant and such a nice bloke. So slim too.

Aldo Zilli also came and bless him he donated an evening cooking at the highest bidders house. People diss celebrities all the time but I only have good things to say about them. They do so much for Charities every single day.

I got out of London for The Jubilee as I’m not a massive lover of crowds so watched it all on tv in my Dads bar in Yorkshire. Whilst I was there I decided I needed to make more money as living in London is killing me! So I am in the process of setting up my own business ahhhh so grown up! It’s going to be called Monkey’s got Talent. I loved hosting We Will Rock you’s 10th Anniversary and would love to do more of the same. Onwards and upwards. Wish me luck

A Hectic Week

I was at The Tower of London last week with John Partridge from EastEnders and 60 disadvantaged children who we look after at Variety. We had a Jubilee picnic there with entertainers, the Pearly King and Queen and children’s presenters. I had a fab time. The weather was amazing and you forget sometimes how amazing London is. I haven’t been to the tower since I was a kid, I used to love the dungeons (was always a bit weird). Johnny Partridge was so lovely; he stayed for ages and talked to every child. I really do appreciate all the celebrities that give their invaluable time to charities.

I wrote a piece in the Mail yesterday and received some horrible comments, but have been told they always write horrid things on there to everyone. I have no problem with opinions as that’s why I wrote the article, but jeez, you don’t have to get so vindictive and personal. Anyway, read for yourself and please realise I just wanted to stand up for women with Cancer that I feel, should have been asked to be in the campaign.

We Will Rock You and Fundraising Extravaganzas

So sorry I haven’t written my blogette for a while, but I have been so busy. I have been working on We Will Rock You’s 10th Anniversary. I got to look after all the celebs on the night which was great fun. I meet so many stars like Robert De Niro, Mike Rutherford, Ben Elton, Roger Taylor to mention a few. I think it has to have been the best event I’ve been too. It was electrifying seeing Brian May and Roger Taylor playing Queen’s songs while we all waved our glow sticks! The after party was even better ‘cos I got to dance with Brian May, who I love dearly.

It’s been soooo busy at Variety too…The next morning I was up and out at Variety’s Props lunch. I booked the very funny Al Murray, who so kindly gave his time for free (What a man!) He was hilarious! We rasied close to £400,000 which is epic in this climate.

Next, was our wonderful Ambassador Aldo Zilli, who came to present a cheque of £1,175,000 from De Vere Venues to Variety. De Vere raised this money for us in three years which is amazing. Aldo was his cheeky self again; he is always upbeat and fun.

We are also working with The Italian Job, who are raising money for us. So the other day I asked my mate Robert Powell, who was in the film, to do a photoshoot with all the minis, and have also asked him to be the Ambassador for this amazing event. We may even go on the rally. Check out  www.italianjob.com for more details.

Funerals, parties, rock legends and a new boob!

It’s been a mad busy time as usual. Nanna’s funeral was tough but beautiful. I asked them to play White Cliffs Of Dover when we arrived at the Crematorium and The Lambeth Walk when we left. Granddad did very well but broke down when the curtains closed and she left his life for good. Not easy after nearly eighty years together.

He has one sister left called Madge and we are like two peas in a pod! She’s only 94 so a spring chicken compared to Granddad at 101. Bless them. The one good thing that came from all this is my family are closer than ever now.

I went to The iExplore charity event at The O2 with my friend Stephen Bowman from Blake. He’s always the best arm candy to take to parties as not only is he gorgeous and good fun he can also charm everyone around him. The Wanted played and although I am more rock chick than pop tart they were really good. But I gotta say Go West were much better. I ended up dancing 80s stylie with some bloke from The Sun. Good night had by all!

I’m at home at the moment recovering from an operation. I had to have another breast reconstruction as my left one had shrunk so I was Miss Odd boobies. Now I am nearly perfect. My surgeon is a genius. Now I have great tits! I’m on antibiotics so not had a drink for 5 days which is a record for me and I have slept loads. I guess I needed the rest from the hectic life I lead and I actually feel better than normal.

On Monday I have a huge event I am helping out on but I’ll tell you all about that next time. I will be moving and shaking with rock gods and lots of big stars. What to bloody wear though?….

Party Monkey

What a week!  I haven’t stopped.

I was lucky enough to be invited to a celebrity pamper day and had the amazing A-Lift anti-aging facial courtesy of my mate Karen Betts, I looked about 12 after. It was perfect timing too as I was going to a drinks party that evening with the gorgeous Peter Andre who was launching the New Sport Tan with Fake Bake. He really is the nicest bloke you could ever meet, so polite, down to earth, and brown! We chatted a bit about his brother who has cancer. It’s so horrible to watch a family member go through such a tough illness. I wish his brother well and hope he gets better soon.

After Peter’s drinks I jumped in a cab and went to agent to the stars Jonathan Shalit’s 50th Birthday party at The V&A. It was unbelievable. Tulisa, Mark Wright, Myleene Klass and Kelly Brook were there. I bumped into my mates Lizzie Cundy, Jilly Johnson and Nikki Zilli who were on great form and ended up going to Soho House for a nightcap with a couple of journalist friends. I didn’t get home till 3am. Naughty Monkey!

The next night I had a fab dinner organised at The Grosvenor House Hotel with the legend that is Babs Windsor and her lovely hubby Scott Mitchell. We made Babs a Celebrity Ambassador for Variety because she has done so much over the years for the charity. They are such a nice couple and very, very funny.

Tonight I am off to the O2 with a hunk (Stephen Bowman from Blake) for a charity do with The Wanted. To be honest I’d like to curl up in my jimjams and watch Corrie repeats, but no chance of that! The Monkey rocks on x

Nanna Monk

I went to the Blackberry party in South London last week where Jessie
J was performing.

As soon as I arrived I felt an odd vibe and wanted to leave. I met Nicola Mclean at the door and we walked in together. We had to push passed hundreds of people to get into the V.I.P area which was just as busy. It took about 45 mins to get to the bar and we were squashed in a corner. I gave it a couple of hours and then sneaked off. I felt so relieved to get out of the place and thank God I did as not long after a guy was glassed and died. Next time I will go with my
instincts and stay at home.

The next night I went to a much nicer party for Abi Beaubronz at The Millennium Hotel in Knightsbridge. Abi spray tans all the celebrities
on Dancing on Ice and can ya believe it? Torvill and Dean turned up!
They were so lovely. The food was yummy and we had lashings of
champagne with no queueing!  I bumped into my favourite boys Gary and
Phil.

I always have a good time when they are around.

Sadly my poor old Nanna died this last week. She was 97 but it’s still
a shock as she was so healthy. She had a fall and never came round
after her op. We can’t have the funeral yet as they have to do a post
mortem. My poor Granddad who is only 1001 is missing her like crazy.
Nearly 80 years together and hardly a night apart. So I dedicate this
little blog to Nanna Monk. Love you and miss you x

Sexy Supper Club

On Friday I was invited to The Supper Club in Notting Hill and it was so brilliant!

Aldo Zilli was the Celebrity guest chef and boy, did we eat well. Poor Aldo was so ill though but he would never let anyone down so he soldiered on through. He’s such a genuine, nice man and I have just made him an Ambassador of Variety, the Children’s Charity and look forward to working with him on some great projects.
I wore a 1950’s dress and I don’t think I’ve ever had so many compliments in my life about an outfit and mostly from men. See, you don’t have to get everything out to get attention.
On Weds I went for lunch at Bafta in Piccadilly and grabbed this picture. I doubt I’ll ever get a Bafta but look how close I am! It suits me, don’t you think?  I want to hold some events there so I am meeting with them in May for a chat.
I have loads of parties in April so am trying to stay in a little bit to get my batteries charged. I’m of to a party next Tuesday with ‘Jessie J’ and one with ‘The Wanted’ which I’ll tell you all about. I am trying to sort out my love life and have a few options at the moment but I don’t want a man to take away my freedom so i am taking it real slow…
So watch this space but don’t go buying a wedding hat anytime soon!

This Mad Weekend….

I had a mad weekend and I’m only just recovering. On Friday it was
Paddy’s Day and as we’ve a mad Irish bird in the office called Aoife, we
dedicated it to her.

W

We decided to dress in green and eat loads of jacket POTATOES (which is my nick-name for her in a Keith Lemon voice)
After work we went to my favourite bar in Camden called ‘The Black Cat’.
Most people left during the evening but the hardcore ones stayed and
went to the gay disco underneath. I ended up on stage with a Drag
Queen singing Do-Re-Mi but I did get the last bus home like a good girl.

Thank God because I was up and out on Saturday morning to go to
Yorkshire to celebrate my Parents Anniversary, Mothers Day and Mum’s Birthday!

As soon as I got to my folks I gave my Mum my washing and went for a quick kip with my dog Poppy.

After a huge night out Saturday night with lots of booze I woke up on Sunday completely broken but had to get up because my sister was taking me and my Mum to York for Mothers Day. I was like Kevin the teenager. I moaned all day!

Got home and then had to go out again to my sisters house with all the family for another dinner! Phew!
Monday morning up again and it’s Mum’s Birthday so shopping and then
dinner at night- I feel hungover and full just thinking about it! On Tuesday I rushed back to London as I had a big work meeting and then onto a
Variety Dinner where we made Barry Cryer and Billy Murray Celebrity
Ambassadors for all their wonderful support.

So thought I come Wednesday I’d better stay in!

Tonight though I am off to The Supper Club in Notting Hill as Aldo
Zilli is cooking me dinner- apparently you eat your dinner in bed! Ooh la la. Will tell you about that next week x

Here is my video from my Valentines Day makeover.. I am so proud and every time I watch it, it brings a tear to my eye!
